Equipment

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread thick slices of bread such as brioche, challah, or French bread work best
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk whole milk or any milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or other toppings of your choice

Instructions

  • In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon (if using) until well combined. This will be your French toast batter.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil to grease the surface.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring that both sides are evenly coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
  • Place the dipped bread slices onto the preheated skillet or griddle, cooking them in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Cook the French toast for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a spatula to flip the slices carefully.
  • Once cooked to your liking, transfer the French toast to a plate and keep warm while you cook the remaining slices.
  • Serve the French toast warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
  • Enjoy your classic French toast as a delicious and satisfying breakfast or brunch option!
