Instructions for Preparing Christmas Bread

The process of preparing this Christmas treat is quite simple and straightforward, and in less than 90 minutes, they’re ready. Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to make this delicious Funfetti Christmas bread recipe at home.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and spray your large loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2: In a large bowl, add in the softened butter and sugar, then mix with a hand mixer until light and fluffy.

Step 3: Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix till they’re combined. Now, add in the sour cream and milk, and mix until everything is well combined. Set aside.

Step 4: In another bowl, add in all the dry ingredients; flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon, and whisk together.

Step 5: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and stir until they’re combined with no dry ingredients showing.

Step 6: Add in the sprinkles, and mix gently for a couple of seconds.

Step 7: Pour the batter into the loaf pan, and bake in the preheated oven for about 65-75 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean through the center and the top is golden).

Step 8: Now, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to keep on cooling.

Step 9: To make the glaze, whisk together the sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla. Now, you can spread it over the cooled bread using a spatula.

Step 10: Sprinkle some extra Christmas sprinkles on the glaze to enhance the appearance.

Step 11: Viola! Your delightful Christmas bread is ready, and it’s time to serve.

Note:

  • If you can’t get unsalted butter, you can use salted butter but make sure to remove the salt to be added later on.
  • If you’re not a fan of the glaze, you can choose not to add it, and just eat the bread fresh and naked.
  • If your bread is getting brown too early when it’s not done, place a foil over it while it is baking.

How to Store Christmas Bread

If you’re lucky to have leftover bread, it is very easy to store for another time.

  • Store the bread in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, and it will last for up to 3 days.
  • You can choose to freeze it but only freeze the bread at the point where you’ve not added the glaze. Cover the bread with foil paper then place in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to two months. Allow to defrost on the countertop before serving.
