Homemade Sautéed Green Beans Recipe
Equipment
- Large skillet or sauté pan

Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh green beans washed and trimmed
- 2 tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper or to taste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice or zest optional, for garnish
- 2 tbsp slivered almonds or toasted sesame seeds optional, for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Green Beans
- Wash and trim the green beans, cutting off the ends if needed.
Heat the Skillet
- Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil or butter and allow it to warm up until shimmering (or melted for butter).
Cook the Green Beans
- Add the green beans to the skillet in a single layer. Stir occasionally for 4-5 minutes, letting the beans start to blister and soften slightly.
Add Garlic and Seasonings
- Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the beans are tender-crisp.
Season and Finish
