Equipment

Ingredients

For Meatballs

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • ½ cup of panko bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 scallions finely chopped
  • ¼ cup of green onions thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup of cilantro chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger freshly grated
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • Olive oil spray

For Sauce

  • cup of hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup of rice vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger

For Garnish

  • Baked sesame seeds optional
  • Freshly chopped cilantro optional
  • Sliced green onions optional

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, crack in the egg and beat with a fork. Add the garlic, scallions, green onions, cilantro, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and panko bread crumbs to the bowl, and mix until well combined.
  • Add the ground turkey to the same bowl, and mix until just combined, avoid over-mixing.
  • Roll the mixture into 16 evenly sized meatballs, about 1 ounce each. Place them on a sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Spray your air fryer basket generously with the olive oil. Add the meatballs evenly spaced, and cook at 400°F (180°C) for 10 minutes, turning halfway at the 5-minute mark.
  • While the air fryer is working its magic on the meatballs, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients until blended.
  • Once the meatballs have finished cooking in the air fryer, set them in a bowl, drizzle the sauce over the meatballs, and gently stir them until everyone is coated properly.
  • Serve warm, and sprinkle some sesame seeds and fresh cilantro over it.

Notes

  • If all the meatballs don't fit in the air fryer tray, you can work in batches. However, before serving, reheat the 1st batch by covering them with foil, and warm them in the air fryer for a minute.
