Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup 100g packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2/3 cup 160ml molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Prepare the Dough
In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Cool and Decorate
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, decorate with royal icing and sprinkles as desired.
