Like I said earlier, the preparation process for this recipe is quite simple and it doesn’t require that much skill. Here’s what you’ll need and how you’ll make the Buffalo Chicken Dip at home.

Ingredients for Preparing Buffalo Chicken Dip

Here are the ingredients you need to prepare this delicious recipe at home.

  • 3 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, shredded 
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 1½ cups of mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1½ cups of cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of hot sauce
  • 1 cup of ranch dressing
  • ½ cup of green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt

Instructions for Preparing Buffalo Chicken Dip

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the buffalo chicken dip recipe at home.

Step 1: Bring a pot of water to boil over high heat, add in the chicken and season it lightly. Allow it to boil for a couple of minutes then turn off the heat, and allow it to sit covered for about 25 minutes. Remove from the pot and allow to cool until it can be handled easily. Now, using two forks, shred the chicken.

Step 2: Preheat your oven to 350°F (or 180°C). Spray your 9×9 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 3: Get a large skillet over medium-low heat, and add in cream cheese, hot sauce, ranch dressing, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk together until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined, then from the heat.

Step 4: Add the shredded chicken, one cup of mozzarella, one cup of cheddar, and green onions to the skillet and mix well until combined.

Step 5: Transfer the mixture to your sprayed baking pan, and top off with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-30 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the sides are bubbling. Now, set your oven to broil for about 5 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Step 7: Viola! Your delicious Buffalo Chicken Dip is ready. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, pita bread, or any other sides you enjoy.

Notes:

  • If you have leftover chicken breast, you can shred it and use it in the recipe, skipping the first step and saving time.
  • You can use 4 cups of shredded rotisserie chicken in place of the chicken breast to save time and experience a slightly more dynamic flavor profile.

  • If you’re fortunate enough to have some leftovers, you can store them in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven at 350°F (with foil covering the pan).
