Today, I’ll be sharing with you a recipe that you can use to recreate the famous La Vics orange sauce at home with ease. You will get that smokey and spicy feeling that a lot of people really like.

Important Ingredients

Surprisingly, there are not too many key ingredients needed to make this recipe, and that is really good. The two main ingredients are chiles de árbol and apple cider vinegar.

  • Apple cider vinegar: This is used to moisten the chilies, and it will add a bit of acidity to the orange sauce. To get a good result, make sure you use apple cider vinegar and not any other substitutes.
  • Chiles de árbol: This is a special type of chili pepper and as you can guess, it is the ingredient that adds spiciness and heat to the sauce. To enhance the flavor, add a few guajillo peppers. 

Ways To Use La Vics Orange Sauce

There are lots of ways that you can use the La Vics orange sauce, but here are some of the most common things to eat with the sauce.

  • Tortilla chips: Tortilla chips are usually eaten with dips and this orange sauce is a perfect dip for them.
  • Tacos: Well, everyone appreciates the sauce used in tacos, you can drip some orange sauce on tacos before eating.
  • As a marinade: If you’re making chicken, you can use this orange sauce as a marinade to add a unique taste and flavor. Use about 1 spoonful of sauce on every chicken thigh, and let it marinate for at least 6 hours.

How To Store

To properly store the La Vics orange sauce, keep it in a jar and place it in the fridge for up to two weeks.

This is a version of the popular La Vics orange sauce that you can easily make at home and get to enjoy with tacos, tortilla chips, etc. It tastes just as good as the original version.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ dried chiles de árbol make sure it is seeded and stemmed
  • 2 guajillo chiles make sure it is seeded and stemmed
  • 4 Roma tomatoes cut into half vertically
  • 1 yellow onion sliced into thick rounds
  • 4 cloves of garlic large
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup of heated water
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven till it gets hot.
  • Place a cookie sheet on your oven pan, and keep the sliced onion and tomatoes with cut side down. Let it roast for about 10-15 minutes until they get a bit charred on the edges.
  • Get a pan and place it on a cooker on medium heat, fry the garlic quickly in a tablespoon of vegetable oil for about a minute. Add chiles to garlic, fry them quickly for 1-2 minutes while flipping them frequently until they just start to toast, avoid burning
  • Take the fried chiles and garlic to a high-speed blender, and add the water and vinegar, let them sit for about 5 minutes so they can become soft.
  • Blend them on high speed for 15-20 seconds, switch to low speed, then add in the remaining vegetable oil slowly, and let the mixture reach a creamy consistency.
  • Now, add the roasted tomatoes and onion with salt to the mixture and blend them all together on high speed until it is smooth.
  • The sauce is now ready, serve it with tortilla chips or add it to tacos. You can store it in a jar, and place it in the fridge for about 2 weeks. Enjoy!
